TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Better results come from better assessment, not more techniques

Bodyworks DW continuing education is built for therapists who want more than another bag of moves. We teach you to read the body, plan treatment, and sequence sessions that hold — through classroom trainings in NYC, live webinars, and on-demand CEU.

How we teach

Three principles behind every course

We don’t teach symptom chasing. We teach therapists how to see patterns, understand compensation, and sequence their work so sessions create change that holds.

  • Provide immediate relief

The first session should address the main complaint and create a noticeable shift whenever possible. Therapists need tools that help clients feel a difference now — not just hear a good theory.

  • Plan structured follow-up

Lasting results usually take three to five well-planned sessions that work through related joint planes. We teach therapists to connect sessions and build cumulative progress instead of leaning on a one-off fix.

  • Maintain whole-body integration

Where the pain shows up is rarely where the problem starts. Ankles, knees, pelvis, ribcage, shoulders, neck, and jaw influence one another. Better treatment design starts by taking those relationships seriously.

  • From national educator to local care

    From treatment room
to teaching room

David Weintraub, LMT is a medical massage therapist and a national continuing-education provider approved by the New York State Department of Education and NCBTMB. He founded Bodyworks DW in 2007 and splits his week between hands-on care, mentoring the team, and teaching — work grounded in nearly two decades of clinical practice and 30+ years studying movement and bodywork.

What started as a one-room downtown Manhattan practice is now two NYC studios with 12 treatment rooms and a dedicated teaching lab, but the core idea has stayed the same: massage should create measurable change, not just feel good for a day. The same philosophy that shapes the clinic shapes every course — real evaluation, targeted treatment, and session plans that build on each other.

David’s training draws on long-term study of myofascial release, neuromuscular therapy, structural integration, and aikido, plus advanced anatomy and dissection work with leaders such as Tom Myers and Marcelo Coutinho. Inside the clinic, cases are reviewed together and methods are refined through real-world outcomes — so the work you’ll learn in his courses has been stress-tested every week on a real caseload of chronic pain, post-surgical recovery, and the cases that come in after everything else has been tried.

"If a method improves results, I keep it. If it doesn't, I let it go. The goal isn't to do more — it's to make every minute of a session count."

    How the curriculum builds

A system you grow with —
not a stack of workshops

    Step

    Foundational advanced skills (201-level)

Body reading and treatment design, body mechanics for myofascial release, sidelying and alternate positions. The toolkit your hands and your eyes need before regional work pays off.

    Step

    Advanced joint-plane sequences (301-level)

Region-by-region courses for feet and ankles, knees, pelvis and low back, ribcage, shoulders, and head/neck/jaw. Each course teaches multiple complete treatment sequences — not a batch of techniques — and every demo is filmed for unlimited rewatch, so you leave with something usable on Monday.

    Step

    Condition-specific modules (on-demand)

Carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis, diastasis recti, and lumbar disc herniations today; post-surgical recovery, migraines, autoimmune disorders, and arthritis in development. Short, focused, and built around specific conditions and client populations — drawn from real casework.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Eight questions therapists ask most often before booking. If you
have a question that isn’t here, email [email protected]

    • Are these courses approved for my license?

Bodyworks DW Inc. is an NCBTMB Approved Provider, ID 1000618, and David Weintraub, LMT is approved by the New York State Department of Education to teach massage therapy CEU. All courses count toward credit in New York and in any state that accepts NCBTMB CE for massage therapy. If you’re licensed outside New York, check your state’s rules to confirm — most accept NCBTMB.

    • Where is the in-person classroom?

Live in-person courses are taught at the Bodyworks DW Midtown West Classroom: 336 West 37th Street, Suite 710, New York, NY 10018. If you can’t travel to NYC, the same philosophy and the same instructor are available through live webinars and on-demand CEU.

    • Who are these courses designed for?

Classroom courses are built for credentialed massage therapists (LMT, CMT, RMT). Therapists in related manual-therapy fields — physical therapy, chiropractic care with myofascial release training — are welcome with prior approval. Email [email protected] with your background to confirm fit.

    • What’s the cancellation policy?

A full refund requires 14 business days’ notice before the class start date. With 7–13 days’ notice, your payment becomes a credit toward a future Bodyworks DW course. With less than 7 days’ notice, the seat isn’t refundable. Sudden illness is handled case-by-case as account credit. Email [email protected] to request a change.

    • What do I bring? What’s included?

Bring how you take notes (pen and paper, tablet) and clothes you can do hands-on practice in. The classroom provides everything else — massage tables, sheets and linens, oil, and bolsters.

    • How long are courses, and how much do they cost?

Course length ranges from short live webinars (2 -3 hours, 2 NYS CEU credits) to full classroom workshops (1–2 days, 6–12 NYS + NCBTMB credits). Pricing varies by format and credit hours. Most current courses fall between $50 and $480; the full catalog and live pricing are on the CEU index.

    • How do I get my certificate after completing a course?

For online and on-demand courses, certificates are downloadable from your account once every lesson is marked complete. Sign in at bodyworksdw.com/my-account/my-courses/, open the course, and the certificate link appears at 100% completion. For live in-person courses, certificates are issued at the end of class. Every certificate lists your NYS and NCBTMB credit hours. For credit in NYS you must additionally complete a form. This is submitted to NCBTMB for NYS approval and NYS approved certificates are emailed within 60-90 days.

    • What makes Bodyworks DW different from other CEU providers?

The teaching is built on a working clinic, not a workshop circuit. David teaches the same philosophy he uses every day in practice — assessment, sequencing, and whole-body integration — and refines methods through real-world outcomes, not classroom theory. Less-is-more. Every move in a 60-minute session has to earn its place. The result: courses you can use on Monday morning, not just credits to file away.
