WHY THIS STUDIO EXISTS
Built so therapists can last
Most studios are built to fill the schedule. This one was built so the people doing the work are still doing it in twenty years. The comp model, the set shifts, the thirty-hour full week and the mentorship all exist because David watched this industry burn through the people it depends on.
David Weintraub, LMT, founder, since 2007

OUR STANDARD, APPLIED TO YOU
A career that actually works
Clients get “massage that actually works.” Therapists get the same standard: no guesswork, no gig-economy fine print, and a structure built for people who plan to do this for decades.
01
Paid for your whole shift
Guaranteed base pay for every scheduled hour, not just hands-on time, plus commission and tips on a W-2. If a client cancels, your base doesn’t.
02
Booked solid, not burned out
Our in-house marketing team fills your schedule: most new hires start 75%+ booked on high-demand shifts and are consistently full within 1–3 months. The regulars do the rest.
03
Full time is 30 hours, not 40
Set blocks, 8:45 to 3:15 or 3:15 to 9:45 with paid setup included, three to five shifts a week and one of them on the weekend. Thirty hours is full time here, benefits and all, because hands-on clinical work at forty is how careers end early.
04
A promotion with a date on it
You start at Senior Therapist and move up to Lead: straight after onboarding if you arrive with deep clinical experience, and by Spring 2027 at the latest either way. Nobody has left since the new model launched.

Compensation
How the money works
Most studios make you decode the comp plan in the interview. Here it is up front instead, same as in our job ads.
HOW IT WORKS
The model, in plain language
Base pay is $28.50 to $32.00 an hour, depending on experience, and you are paid it for your entire shift, booked or not. The role is commission-based on top of that, and therapists receive tips. Here is what that adds up to over a year:
Senior Therapist · where you start
$21.5K
a year for every weekly shift you work. Three shifts is about $64,500.
Lead Therapist · after onboarding, or by Spring 2027
$23.5K
a year for every weekly shift you work. Five shifts is about $117,500.
*Figures use 4.5 sessions a shift, our studio average once sick days, uncharged late cancellations and the ordinary gaps of a real week are in it. A full room runs about five. Base plus commission plus tips at a stated 11%, against a measured rate that has been running higher. Three shifts assume 52 weeks, five about 50. These are total earnings, not the advertised pay range. The advertised range is base pay: $28.50 to $32.00 an hour. Total earnings depend on your schedule, how full your book is, and tips, and are not guaranteed.
No other studio in this city can promise you a full book, because none of them fill it for you. While yours fills, your base pay carries you.
Benefits
What comes with it
Full time here is 30 hours, not 40. It is also the honest threshold for six figures: below 30 hours, $100K is unlikely. At 30 or more, most therapists get there inside 12 to 18 months. Many sooner.
Part time, 18 hours or more
W-2 employment: payroll handled, no 1099 fine print, 401(k) with 4% match after 6 months
Full time, which here is 30 hours or more
Everything above
2 weeks vacation pay at your base hourly rate
$500/month health benefits via QSEHRA
The hours where $100K+ becomes realistic
For everyone
40 hours of paid safe and sick leave a year
32 hours of unpaid safe and sick leave a year, available from your first day
20 hours of paid prenatal leave a year, separate from your sick leave
New York State Paid Family Leave: up to 12 weeks of job-protected leave at the state benefit rate, funded through employee payroll contributions as required by state law
Free accredited NYS CEU credits, earned in-house
Paid training and 60-day structured onboarding
Massage for the team at cost, about 40% off list, plus friends-and-family rates

HOW IT GROWS
Four ways your pay grows, three of them automatic
Three of these happen on their own. One is the raise you negotiate. That is the opposite of most studios, where the only lever is arguing about your split.
Your book fills
A settled therapist with a real set of regulars runs around 4.75 sessions a shift. That is about $700 more a year on every weekly shift you work, and it happens on its own as the regulars accumulate.
Your base goes up
Base pay rises with tenure and performance. Every extra dollar an hour is about $340 a year per weekly shift, and unlike commission, you are paid it whether or not the room is full.
You move up to Lead
About $2,200 a year per weekly shift, and more than half of that lands in your base rather than your bookings.
Session rates rise
Your commission stays at 18%, permanently. We don’t move the percentage, we raise the session price, regularly, about every 18 months. A $10 rise in session rates is worth about $420 a year per weekly shift, and it reaches you without you having to ask for it.

The work itself
Clinical work, not a spa menu
Clients book time, 60 or 90 minutes, not “styles.” After a real evaluation you choose the blend: deep tissue, myofascial, neuromuscular, orthopedic. Herniations, frozen shoulders, TOS, post-surgical recovery, prenatal. People who come back on purpose.
Three to five set shifts a week, one of them on the weekend, at FiDi or Midtown West. Two studios, one standard: same method, same training, same session options. Your first 60 days are structured: intake and outtake, prenatal training if you need it, and case review with experienced colleagues before your book fills.
Our smallest treatment room is 9 by 14 and most are bigger. If you have spent years in a 7 by 10, you know what that does to a shift. Tables are standard adjustable, non-mechanical. The front desk covers phones, scheduling, policies, linens and setup, so your attention stays on the treatment plan.
Therapist education
Free CEUs, down the hall.
We’re an NYS Education Department and NCBTMB approved CE provider. The accredited courses outside therapists pay to attend are free for the team: assessment, body reading, treatment design, whole-body integration, all taught in-house.
Alongside the courses you get ongoing 1:1 mentorship with David Weintraub, LMT: body reading, advanced myofascial assessment and long-term treatment planning. You’ll progress through region- and condition-specific modules, from feet and ankles up to head, neck and jaw. And if you ever want to teach, the path is real: assist first, then lead.

Before you apply
Who thrives here, and who doesn't
We hire about one therapist a month, and we'd rather be honest than busy. Read both columns before you apply.
A great fit if you:
- You hold a valid NYS massage therapy license with 5+ years in the field, ideally with clinical setting experience.
- Your foundation is strong deep tissue and fascial work, backed by excellent anatomy and kinesiology.
- You’re comfortable with all populations, including prenatal and post-surgical clients.
- You think in assessments and treatment plans, not routines, and communicate like a professional.
- You want stability instead of unpredictable hours, and a clear upward path.
Not the best fit if you want:
You’re looking for a relaxation-spa practice. Our work is clinical and condition-driven.
You want 1099 gig flexibility. These are W-2 schedules with real commitments both ways.
You’d rather skip the mentorship, reviews, and continued training. The learning here never stops.
You’re chasing maximum table hours at any cost. The schedule here is built for careers, not sprints.
Not at 5 years yet? Take one of our accredited CEU courses and get to know how we work, or apply anyway and use the form to tell us why your hours should count double. Strong answers get read either way.

The process
How hiring works
No cover letters, no seven rounds of interviews. A written application, a reply inside 72 hours, a phone call, reference checks, and a session on the table with David. Two to three weeks, start to finish.
STEP 01
The written application, about 15 focused minutes
Short written questions plus your resume. We read your answers before we open your resume: thoughtful answers from an unusual background beat a shiny resume with lazy ones, every time. The form takes effort on purpose.
STEP 02
We read it, and you hear back within 72 hours
Every application is read by a person, not filtered by software, and everyone gets an answer inside three days. Yes or no, you will know where you stand.
STEP 03
A phone interview, then we call your references
A real conversation first: your background, how you work, what you are looking for, and anything you want to ask us. If that goes well, we ask for references and we actually call them.
STEP 04
A table interview with David
One session, on David, not on a client and not on the schedule. You treat, he talks you through what he is feeling and how we would approach it, and you leave with a read on your own hands whether or not we hire you. You will see the rooms, meet some of the team, and get straight answers to anything on this page. Training hours before your first shift are paid.
STEP 05
The offer, with the comp model on the table
We walk the numbers line by line: your starting level, your base, your realistic year-one income, your shifts, and what your promotion to Lead depends on. You leave knowing exactly what you said yes to.
Frequently Asked Questions
Have more questions? Get in touch
W-2 or 1099?
W-2, always. Payroll taxes handled, paid sick leave, 401(k) with a 4% match after six months. We don’t do the “independent contractor with an employee’s schedule” arrangement. If we set your shifts, you’re our employee. That’s how it should work.
How does pay actually work, day to day?
Base pay is $28.50 to $32.00 an hour, depending on experience, and you are paid it for your entire shift, booked or not. The role is commission-based on top of that, and therapists receive tips. You start at Senior through onboarding and move up to Lead: immediately after onboarding if you arrive with deep clinical experience, and by Spring 2027 at the latest either way. Total earnings, base plus commission plus tips, work out at roughly $21.5K a year for each weekly shift at Senior and $23.5K at Lead, so three shifts is around $64,500 and five shifts at Lead is around $117,500. Those totals include tips at a stated 11%, against a measured rate that has been running higher, and they are not guaranteed. Raises follow tenure and performance on a schedule you will know in advance.
What counts as full time?
Thirty hours a week, not forty. That is the point: hands-on work at forty hours a week is how therapists end up injured or burned out. Thirty hours is what unlocks vacation pay and the QSEHRA health benefit, and it is the level where six figures becomes realistic.
How full will my schedule really be?
Filling your book is our marketing team’s whole job. On consistent high-demand shifts, most new hires start 75%+ booked and are consistently full within one to three months, carried by steady repeat clients on long-term treatment plans.
Is there a non-compete?
No. Two things, and that is it: while you work here, you do not solicit our clients for outside work, and you never take client contact information with you to reach out to them directly. That stays ours, during and after. Beyond that, you are free. No restriction on where you work next, who you work for, or how close by. If a client finds you on their own afterward and wants to keep seeing you, that is their call to make, not ours to block.
Do I have to sell anything?
There is nothing to sell. No retail targets, no quotas, no packages or wallets to push. You do handle rebooking and checkout at the end of a session, and the only reason to rebook someone is clinical: would more work actually move them toward their goal? If the answer is no, you say no. David mentors on this directly, because knowing when more treatment helps and when it does not is a clinical judgment, not a sales one.
What's the client mix?
Clinical and condition-driven: office workers, parents, high-level athletes, post-surgical patients. Herniations, frozen shoulder, thoracic outlet, sciatica, prenatal. Mostly repeat clients referred by results, which means treatment plans that actually go somewhere.
I'm licensed outside New York. Can I apply?
You’ll need a New York State massage therapy license to work at either studio. If you’re relocating, NYSED handles endorsement. Start there, then apply once your NYS license is in motion, and mention it in the form. Timing is workable for the right person.
What happens after I hit apply?
A person reads your written answers before your resume, and you hear back either way within 72 hours. From there: a phone interview, reference calls, a table interview with David, then an offer with the comp model walked through line by line. Application to offer typically runs two to three weeks.
What licence and experience do I need?
A valid New York State massage therapy licence, and about five years in the field, ideally with some of it in a clinical setting. Your foundation should be strong deep tissue and fascial work with solid anatomy and kinesiology, and you should be comfortable with all populations, including prenatal and post-surgical clients. Not at five years yet? Apply anyway and use the form to tell us why your hours should count double.
