The Bodyworks DW Method

Massage that actually works

We listen and evaluate first—then tailor each session with integrated clinical techniques to match your body and goals.

  1. 01

    Whole-body evaluation

You’ll meet your therapist, talk briefly about what’s going on, and do a few simple movement tests.

  2. 02

    A targeted session

Then we’ll design a targeted session around your main goals for today—no generic full‑body routine.

  3. 03

    Support beyond the table

You leave with simple home‑care strategies—stretches, positions, or self‑massage.

My massage with Jessamyn was just what I needed after a long week of office computer work. With gentle but firm hands she melted away the tension in my traps, neck, and shoulders and I loved how she paid careful attention to the knots I had. I will be seeing her again, and you should too!

Leela and the team are fantastic and I highly recommend visiting. Both my husband and I go regularly.

Leela is a lifesaver. I've been seeing her for almost a year now. She can feel exactly what is troubling my body and can release it. Unlike spa massages, her bodywork keeps me relieved and tuned up. As someone that is on her feet 10-12 hrs a day, all I can say is thank goodness Leela is around to fix me. I could not do my job with out her. She also gives good tips on how to stay aligned and healthy day to day. She's the best.

Jovaughn was extremely knowledgeable and professional. If you want a massage that actually addresses the issue and rids you of stubborn knots, this is the place. I felt so much less pain afterwards! I’ll definitely be back.

Best massage therapy I’ve ever gotten. Helping me deal with Medical issues with my spine, and post-surgical after my knee replacement. Brianna is my massage therapist and I cannot praise her enough.

I was already familiar with medical massage after my previous therapist relocated. I wasn’t looking for a spa massage—I needed someone who could address specific physical issues. I found Bodyworks DW through Instagram and decided to book an appointment with its owner, David.

I’ve seen David at both the Midtown and Financial District locations, and the results have been excellent. He has significantly improved my shoulder range of motion, along with issues in my hips and knees. The work complements my active lifestyle of walking and weight training perfectly.

Both studios are great, and the FiDi location is especially convenient, near the Fulton Street subway station. I’ve also recommended Bodyworks DW to colleagues, several of whom have received treatment from other practitioners there and had positive experiences. I highly recommend Bodyworks DW to anyone looking for effective, targeted bodywork from therapists who know what they’re doing.

I’ve been coming to Bodyworks for several years now after receiving a recommendation from a former coworker when I still worked in the area. Akiko is incredible at evaluating what to focus on during a session and exercises I can do on my own to improve strength and reduce pain. Highly recommend Akiko and Bodyworks overall for pain management!

Frequently asked questions

  • What happens at my first visit?

You’ll meet your therapist, talk briefly about what’s going on, and do a few simple movement tests. Then we’ll design a targeted session around your main goals for today—no generic full‑body routine. You leave with a clearer picture of what’s driving your pain and 1–3 self‑care ideas to keep progress going.

  • How do Wellness Wallets work?

You pre‑load a one‑time amount and we add bonus credit on top. You can use Wallet credit on any 60‑ or 90‑minute session at either studio, with any therapist. Your loaded credits never expire. Bonus credit expires in 12 months.

  • Do you take insurance, HSA or FSA?

We don’t bill insurance directly. We can provide a detailed medical massage receipt (“superbill”) you can submit for possible reimbursement (coverage varies by plan). HSA/FSA cards are welcome.

  • Do you still offer $25 off a first session?

No. Since October 2026 we no longer offer $25 off a first session. Our approach is a structured series of medical massage sessions that focus on long-term change rather than temporary relief. So new clients can start with Relief, a Wellness Wallet: $550 for $600 in credit, roughly three 60-minute sessions with any Senior or Lead therapist, offered before your first visit only.
