Home » David Weintraub LMT – Founder of Bodyworks DW
David Weintraub, LMT (he/him) founded Bodyworks DW in 2007 as a one-room private practice and has grown it into one of New York City’s leading medical massage studios, now with two locations and a team of more than 20 therapists. With 19 years of experience, David is recognized for pioneering a results-driven approach: structured series of medical massage sessions that focus on long-term change rather than temporary relief.
Today, David splits his time between three main roles:
Hands-on work with clients three days per week, specializing in chronic pain, post-surgical recovery, and complex cases.
Mentorship and training, ensuring every Bodyworks DW therapist receives direct guidance and ongoing education in advanced assessment and treatment planning.
Leadership, managing a support team of seven and steering the studio’s growth as a hub for client care and professional development.
David also teaches continuing education courses for massage therapists nationwide and is a regular contributing writer for Massage Magazine, where his articles share advanced clinical insights and practice advice.
A graduate of the Finger Lakes School of Massage (2007), David has continued to expand his expertise through intensive training in myofascial release, connective tissue therapy, neuromuscular therapy, and movement re-education. His work is informed by the lineage of Ida Rolf, through the teachings of her students Tom Myers and Marcelo Coutinho, both of whom continue to shape the evolution of structural and myofascial bodywork. His sessions blend deep technical knowledge with a highly individualized approach that helps clients move better, feel better, and live better.
Bodyworks DW reflects David’s core mission: creating a supportive space where talented therapists can thrive, clients can experience real and lasting results, and massage is recognized as a legitimate form of medical care.
Outside the studio, David enjoys guitar, aikido, vintage motorcycles, and comics. Alongside his wife, Amanda Dickinson, he also hunts for mid-century treasures at estate sales, furnishing both their studios and Amanda’s online shop, Diamond Dust Vintage.
