Lead Massage Therapist
Shiho Tanaka, LMT
Shiho Tanaka, LMT (she/her) provides structured, assessment-informed medical massage with a calm, steady presence. A graduate of the CUNY Healing Arts Program, she blends Deep Swedish, Zen Shiatsu, Thai massage, Myofascial Release, and Trigger Point Therapy to address both structural restriction and nervous system load. Her approach is grounded, precise, and responsive—supporting clients in restoring mobility while reducing chronic tension patterns. She’s also been training under David Weintraub, LMT the longest of anyone on the team, since being the first therapist hired by David in 2014.
Shiho frequently helps clients with sciatica and nerve-related leg pain, TMJ and teeth grinding, frozen shoulder, tech-neck and upper back tension, prenatal hip and low back pain, and chronic stress and burnout.

WHY Shiho
Precise work.
Clear next steps.
Shiho integrates structural precision with a grounded, nervous-system-aware approach—particularly valuable for prenatal clients and those navigating chronic stress or layered pain patterns.
Clinically Trained in Prenatal & Postpartum Care
Shiho completed advanced prenatal and postpartum training, including clinical study at North Shore University Hospital supporting high-risk pregnancies. She understands how to position, pace, and adjust treatment safely while still delivering meaningful structural change.
East-Meets-West Structural Integration
Her work draws from Deep Swedish, Zen Shiatsu, Thai techniques, Myofascial Release, and Trigger Point Therapy. Rather than applying techniques mechanically, she blends them strategically—using compression, sustained fascial work, and targeted release based on how your body responds in real time. She has also trained under David Weintraub the longest on the team, as one of his very first protegees.
Calm, Regulated Treatment Environment
Shiho’s presence is steady and attentive. Clients often arrive carrying both physical tension and mental overload; her pacing helps downshift the nervous system so deeper work becomes productive rather than reactive.
She works effectively at depth when needed, but avoids forcing tissue. The goal is measurable change—improved range, reduced nerve irritation, easier breathing—not simply intensity.

What shapes Shiho's work
Shiho Tanaka graduated from the CUNY Healing Arts Program with an Associate Degree in Massage Therapy and has continued to expand her clinical scope through advanced prenatal and postpartum study. Her clinical training at North Shore University Hospital working with high-risk pregnancies sharpened her understanding of safe positioning, contraindications, and progressive treatment pacing.
Her work bridges Eastern and Western frameworks. Zen Shiatsu and Thai massage inform her use of compression and body mechanics, while Deep Swedish, Myofascial Release, and Trigger Point Therapy allow her to address structural restriction directly. This integration creates sessions that feel cohesive rather than segmented.
Shiho is particularly effective with clients whose tension patterns are amplified by stress. She understands how breathing mechanics, jaw tension, and rib mobility influence one another—and addresses these patterns systematically. Her sessions are steady and focused, creating enough safety in the nervous system for deeper change to occur.
In addition to structural training, Shiho holds Reiki Level II certification and practices Quantum Healing techniques. Within her medical massage framework, this refined sensory awareness enhances—not replaces—clear assessment and measurable outcomes.
Clients often describe her work as calming but strong, structured yet intuitive. The goal is not simply relaxation; it is sustainable change.
