Senior Massage Therapist
Atsuhiko Kawamura, LMT
Atsuhiko Kawamura, LMT (he/him) brings a deeply informed and methodical approach to clinical bodywork shaped by both Eastern therapeutic traditions and modern orthopedic massage training. Born and raised in Japan in a family of healthcare practitioners, he developed an early understanding of hands-on care and the body’s capacity to recover with the right support.
After moving to New York, Atsuhiko completed professional training at the Swedish Institute, earning an Associate Degree in Occupational Studies before becoming a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist in 2007. His sessions blend precise anatomical work with reflexology and sports-focused treatment strategies to reduce pain, improve mobility, and support long-term recovery.
Atsuhiko frequently helps clients with sports injuries, plantar fasciitis and foot pain, knee and ankle strain, shoulder tension from repetitive activity, and recovery from overuse or training-related injuries.

What shapes Atsuhiko's work
Atsuhiko Kawamura grew up in Japan in a family of healthcare practitioners, where hands-on care was part of everyday life. That early exposure shaped his understanding of how thoughtful touch and attention to the body can support recovery and resilience.
After relocating to New York in the 1990s, he pursued formal massage therapy training at the Swedish Institute, completing more than 1,200 hours of coursework and earning an Associate Degree in Occupational Studies before obtaining his New York State massage therapy license in 2007.
Over the years, Atsuhiko has continued to expand his training, including achieving national certification in reflexology through the American Reflexology Certification Board. His work today blends this reflexology expertise with orthopedic and sports massage techniques, allowing him to address both localized pain and broader movement patterns that contribute to injury.
Clients often appreciate Atsuhiko’s calm presence, focused attention, and steady pressure. His sessions emphasize precise work, careful pacing, and an understanding of how small structural changes can improve comfort, mobility, and athletic recovery.
