About Bodyworks DW
Beyond Massage: Guided Progress, Lasting Relief
Advanced clinical massage in NYC to help you move with less pain, recover from injury, and feel at home in your body again.

Who we are
Advanced clinical massage therapy
We’re not a spa. We’re a team of NYS‑licensed therapists providing results‑driven, evidence‑informed care.
You book 60 or 90 minutes—we choose the right blend of methods for your goals.
Our story
From one‑room practice to two studios and a teaching lab
Bodyworks DW began in 2007, when David Weintraub, LMT opened a one‑room practice in downtown Manhattan with one goal: massage that actually changes how people live—not just how they feel for a day.
As word spread, that practice grew into a full studio in the Financial District, then a second location in Midtown West. Along the way, David built a team of therapists who share his obsession with anatomy, movement, and real‑world results.
Today, Bodyworks DW is widely recognized as one of NYC’s leading medical massage practices, serving everyone from office workers and parents to high‑level athletes and post‑surgical patients. Many referred by surgeons, physicians, and physical therapists across the city.
Our Mission
To help people move with less pain, recover from injuries, and live with more ease in their bodies—through massage that’s grounded in science and delivered with genuine care.

Meet the Founder
David Weintraub, LMT — Founder, Therapist & Educator
David Weintraub, LMT is the founder of Bodyworks DW, a medical massage therapist, and a national continuing‑education instructor. With nearly two decades of clinical practice and 30+ years studying movement and bodywork, he’s especially known for:
- Chronic and complex pain
- Post‑surgical recovery (including joint replacements)
- Difficult cases where “nobody else has helped”
David splits his time between hands‑on client care three days a week, mentoring and training every therapist on the team, and teaching NYS‑ and NCBTMB‑approved continuing education courses—plus writing for publications like Massage Magazine.
His background includes long‑term study of myofascial release, neuromuscular therapy, structural integration, and aikido, plus advanced anatomy and dissection trainings with leaders such as Tom Myers and Marcelo Coutinho.

“Bodyworks DW reflects my core mission: creating a supportive space where talented therapists can thrive, clients can experience real and lasting results, and massage is recognized as legitimate medical care.”

OUR STANDARD
The Bodyworks DW Method
No guesswork, no spa menu. Every session starts with a real evaluation, then integrated clinical massage tailored to your body—plus simple at‑home strategies—so results last beyond the table.
01
Therapists you can trust
All therapists are NYS‑licensed, personally mentored by founder David Weintraub, LMT, and continually train in orthopedic, myofascial, and neuromuscular work—many also teach accredited CE.
02
Time, not “styles”
You don’t pick “deep tissue” or “sports” from a menu. You book 60 or 90 minutes, and after your evaluation we choose the right blend of techniques for your body that day.
03
Root‑cause focus
Where you hurt isn’t always where the problem started. We look at posture, movement patterns, breathing, and your injury history to get beyond symptom chasing and address deeper drivers of pain.
04
Good intense, not brutal
Work that changes how you feel—often in the first visit—kept at a productive, safe intensity so your nervous system can relax instead of brace and fight back.
05
Support beyond the table
You leave with with simple home‑care strategies—stretches, positions, or self‑massage——and we coordinate with your PT, physician, or trainer when it helps.
06
Two studios, one standard
Two NYC studios—FiDi and Midtown West—using the same results‑focused method, shared training, and the same 60‑ and 90‑minute session options, so you get consistent care wherever you go.

Team & in-house training
A studio built to grow great therapists
We believe lasting results for clients start with strong support for therapists. That’s why Bodyworks DW is structured as a clinic and a training ground:
- A clear in‑house training path (not “sink or swim”)
- Regular 1:1 and small‑group mentorship with lead therapists and David
- Case reviews and shared planning for complex clients
- Paid time for clinical training and continuing education
Therapists progress through region‑ and condition‑specific modules—feet & ankles, knees, hips & pelvis, ribcage & shoulders, head/neck/jaw—plus issues like lumbar disc herniation, thoracic outlet syndrome, plantar fasciitis, and diastasis recti, so care stays precise, safe, and effective.
For therapists
Massage education & continuing education
Bodyworks DW is a training hub for practicing massage therapists—choose live classroom CE in our Midtown West teaching space or on‑demand CE you can watch and rewatch at your own pace. Courses cover assessment, treatment design, and hands‑on work for specific regions and conditions, grounded in real studio case studies, and are NCBTMB‑approved and recognized for New York State massage therapy CE credit.

Recognized beyond the studio
Press, awards, and a growing community
Bodyworks DW and David’s work have been featured in outlets such as The New York Times, GQ, BuzzFeed, Well+Good, and industry publications like Massage Magazine. We’ve also been repeatedly recognized by Expertise.com among NYC’s best massage therapists and honored by the Sunday Wellness Awards for our approach to pain relief and clinical care.
Clients come from across NYC and beyond—from traders and teachers to new parents, retirees, Broadway performers, and marathoners—often referred by physicians, surgeons, physical therapists, acupuncturists, and trainers.

Sustainable care & careers
Care that supports everyone
Great client care starts with great therapist support. Bodyworks DW offers some of the strongest pay and benefits in the field, including a guaranteed hourly base pay, 401(k) with 4% match, paid sick time, CEU support, and a culture that values rest, growth, and inclusion. And for full time therapists, we are proud to be one of few studios offering health benefits and paid vacation.
For clients, that means your therapist is present, supported, and not rushing. For therapists, it’s a place to build a meaningful, sustainable career.
